Static vs Dynamic QR Codes: Which One Is Right for a Gift?
The difference between static and dynamic QR codes, when to use each, and why personalized gifts need a QR code linked to an editable page.
Most free QR code generators make static QR codes: the text or link you type is baked into the code and can never change. With a dynamic approach, the code points to a fixed address, and what that address shows can be updated anytime.
Static QR codes
- The content lives inside the code; change the content and you need a new code.
- Good for things that never change: a Wi-Fi password, a fixed web address, a phone number.
- Can't carry photos, video or a long message.
Dynamic (page-linked) QR codes
- The code carries a page address; the page itself can always be updated.
- Can hold a photo gallery, music, video, counters and effects.
- Spotted a typo after printing? Fix the page — the code stays the same.
Which one for a gift?
With a personalized gift, the value is in what the code opens: your photos, a letter, a song. A page-linked QR code is the only option that can carry all of that and still be edited after printing. On QRLivo every page's address is locked the moment it's published, so a printed code never goes to waste.
